Karla's poncho
Mood:  silly
Topic: Karla
My parents gave Karla a Gap poncho on Three Kings Day.

It's her new blankie. Whenever she is awake she wears her multicolored poncho. I have to take it off once she is asleep. She asks for her poncho in her sleep or as soon as she wakes up.

Of course the poncho gets dingy. Washing the infamous poncho can be quite an adventure. It's not easy when your toddler is ranting "poncho, poncho!" "I want my poncho".

Karla is 21 mos old!
Mood:  crushed out
Topic: Karla
Our little Karla is now 21 months old. She is a daredevil and too cute for her own good. Her smile can melt your heart.

She climbs up and down any stairs. She loves Barney, Penguin Paz and crocodiles. She also talks like a big kid. This morning she kept on chasing me so I would read her a storybook. My she really loves books and reading. Hope she keeps that up in school.

Life is so precious
Mood:  lucky
Topic: Working Mom
We've spent the last few days caring for Karla. She's got a virus with a sinus infection. Of course, she's not shy about sharing her bugs with us. Somehow, I always catch these things.

Yet, I feel soo lucky.

This morning, on the way to Karla's ped I walked through the Children's Hospital lobby. I bumped into former classmates. They have a child with special needs. The child was a perfectly normal kid, who due to some terrible accident is severely disabled and with lots of brain damage. My heart felt for this wonderful couple who has suffered every parents nightmare. The are blessed with a second healthy child.

God, please help me bite my tongue whenever I'm about to complain or whine.

Back to Normal
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Working Mom
Went back to work on Tuesday, January 11. The X mas vacation and holidays sure were nice. Those mid-day naps with Karla were great. Now back to our daily routines.

Karla's sitter is back. She is fantastic. We all love her, and she really loves Karla. I know our sitter missed Karla during vacation time.

I've got a new boss, actually several new boses. I work at a state government agency. We've got a new state governor and a new agency director, with a lot of potential. Let us hope for the best. (Can't trust politicians)

Now I'll be able to get to the gym straight from work. During the holidays I had to get a sitter (dh or a grandma) to care for Karla while I went. Of course I didn't go as often as I wanted, but I lost 4 lbs and 1.20 in during the Christmas season. Yay!!!

My treadmill is d-e-a-d :( It was a hand me down from my parents and it's only 12 years old. LOL

DH will get me a new treadmill for Valentine's day (or before). I will contribute some of my Xmas gift money so we can get a nicer one. This will be a gift of love and health. Can't wait to get out of my chunky self and into my thin self.

Meanwhile, I'm decluttering the house. Gotta get rid of the old stuff to fit in the new the treadmill. Can't wait to fling my fat clothes. My skinny clothes are packed as I refuse to throw them out. :)

I've also got to finish putting away all the Christmas decorations. I realized this morning we still have decorations on our garage and front door. Time to take them down. The goal is to put all the Christmas stuff away by January 17.

Three Kings Day
Mood:  happy
Topic: Traditions
Karla loved Three Kings Day. She loved her Fisher Price Noah's Ark and the animals that came with it. At almost 20 mos, Karla did not appreciate the shoe organizer received. I sure loved it! We now have more shoe pairs together.

Now that Christmas is officially over, I'll begin to take down the decorations and the tree (it's artificial). Hope to have everything stored by the 16th.

Three Kings Eve part 2
Mood:  special
Topic: Traditions
Karla went to sleep really late. DH and I had to drive her around the San Juan metroplex until she fell asleep. Guess Karla was too excited, as everyone had been telling her about the Magi.

The Magi arrived. The gifts are under the Christmas tree. We'll have to take video and lots of pics.

Three Kings Eve
Mood:  special
Topic: Traditions
Today is January 5, aka Three King's Eve or the Eve of the Magi. In Puerto Rico, where we live (and are from) the Three Kings that visited baby Jesus visit the children and bring presents. Yes, we also get Santa Claus to visit us on Christmas Eve.

What can I say?, in Puerto Rico we have the longest Christmas season from mid November until mid January.

Tonight Karla and I went to pick some grass and hay to feed the camels. We packed in a little box along with three cans of diet coke, one for each king. LOL

Karla is now watching Barney videos dressed up in her PJs. DH is at our neighbor's house.

When I was a kid, people used to throw parties to celebrate the Three Kings and would party until the dawn of January 6. That tradition seems to be lost.

Karla is sleepy. Time to put her to bed

Mood:  lazy
Topic: vacation
Today Karla went to play at my SIL's house. SIL is wonderful, she invited Karla to play all day long at her house (free babysitting). It's great since I seem to have a strong cold and have no voice (nor energy). Being on vacation, I was able to do nothing all day long, just rest and set up this blog.

Tomorow I'll go to the doctor since this cold isn't going away (I don't want it to turn into bronchitis or pneumonia). DH will take Karla with him. DH is such a darling caring man. This makes me want to kiss him passionately, which I unfortunately can't do with all my coughing. LOL

I do want to get well ASAP so I can continue to enjoy my vacation. It'll be gone too soon (next week). Besides, I want to return to the gym and continue loosing weight.

Karla is asleep. Must fall asleep soon, before she wakes up for her middle of the night nurse. zzzz!
