My grandmother passed away today
My grandmother passed away this afternoon. She was 89 and in very frail
health; bedridden for over a year. I'm OK, sad, but relieved that she is no
longer in pain. Still, had to deal with all the funeral parlor stuff,
helping to choose clothes, telling my Mom (I was with my grandma when she
died and my mom was taking a nap), plus caring for my nephew who was
visiting my parents. Thank God my father, brother and DH took the kids to
the beach--Karla, Letty and my nephew. We had to call them and tell them to
stay away until the funeral parlor picked up the body.

DH and I took my nephew (he's 4 yrs old) along with us tonight. He lives
with his parents in Florida. My nephew is visiting at my parents and was
supposed. My sister is flying in tomorow night to an airport close to where
the wake and funeral will be held. Guess all the events have been too much
for my nephew. He started crying tonight that he didn't want to sleep at my
house. My father came to pick my nephew up, but he was already asleep. At
1am, he woke up and started crying he wanted to go to my parents house. So
I called my parents and delivered my nephew at 1:40am. DH stayed at home
with our girls, who are asleep. I'm back home and must go to sleep. It's
been quite an exhausting day.

Karla and Letty
Karla 4 yo and Letty 2 yo are now weaned, but Karla nursed until she
was well into her 4 yrs. It was a
loooong weaning process as Karla is a high-maintenance girl who needed
to mommy's support for a longer time. Letty self weaned early before
she was 2. Guess she's very independent and self sufficient. At 2
she can actually defend herself from any of the bigger kids and make
them run away. I have to protect Karla from her until Letty learns
not to hit and bite. (that's my little headache). Karla has learned
not to take Letty's toys away (no kidding). Somehow, they still love
each other to death and are best friends.

Back again--long update!
Last week DH and I went to Southern FL in search of some fresh air and to
celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary. We flew into Miami and drove to
Hollywood and Naples, where we stayed most of the time. We had a wonderful
time in Naples, it is a beautiful place with lots of fresh air, great air
quality.

On Sunday, we had the priviledge of personally meeting Amanda and Morgan.
We had lunch with them at a Ft Lauderdale restaurant near the beach. I felt
like I was meeting old friends. Morgan is just adorable, like a
little porcelain doll. (I wish mine little ones were so well behaved)
There are pics of this mini XPM reunion on the Karla and AdaLetty photo
folder.

Monday morning we flew to PR from Ft Lauderdale.

This week has been kind of hectic. We've been putting the girls back on
schedule, plus Karla seems to have adopted some lice at school. We've all
gone through the delousing process-- even Letty, DH and I went though this
just in case. Now I reallly know the meaning of the word lousy. Plus the
tons of clothes to be washed. LOL. We've achieved another parenting
milestone. Is there a star or patch or medal for this? LOL

Tonight we have some early Halloween activities. Letty will be dressed as
Uniqua. I've still gotta buy Karla's costume. Wish me luck, gotta run to
Party City.

Something scary happened this morning
DH called a while ago. We live on little gated community made up of one cul
de sac lined with rowhouses and a small park. Our children play together in
the park, so we tend to know eac other.

During the morning rush hour, some crooks, entered our neighbor's house.
They tied up everyone (@ 4 kids and wife) and took the husband to the ATM
machine to retrieve money. It seems the family members were left alone in
the house and were able to summon help from the neighbors who called the
police, who were able to rescue the kidnapped husband. Everyone is fine,
but quite scared. Supposedly the crooks were caught. I think even the FBI
was involved because of the carjacking incident.

DH called me to make sure the house was locked. I can imagine there will be
a community meeting tonight or tomorow. This was not the house in the
corner, near the gate (mine is). this was a house in the middle of the
complex, which means the crooks were inside the complex for quite some time
looking for a hit. Also, these people don't have the fancy cars, these
crooks must have been quite desperate. Some of my neighbors have BMWs and
Mercedes-- If I were a thief, I would have struck their houses, instead of
this other fellow's.

Our freezer/fridge broke
Our freezer/fridge broke this weekend. At first I thought I had closed the
freezer the wrong way and kept trying to see if I couold close it right.
Nope. I closed well alright. Soon, I could smell like something had died
in there. Nope, many little things were alive.... BACTERIA... GERMS...
YUCK..!

Time for some quick short sessions. I would take a freezer shelve and start
tossing the yuckiest items into the trash bag until it became full. I'd put
the bag into a second bag-- no taking chances on this-- and toss out onto
the trash.

I just can't wait for trash pickup on Wednesday morning! ;-D

A newspaper article about my sister. I'm so proud!
The local newspaper did an article about my sister. She's a vet and lives
in central FL. Here's the link.
